Why Do TV Preachers Have So Much Money? It’s Not Why You Think!

Posted in Christianity at 2:07 pm by Lisa Ritchey

Why are people getting so upset with the preachers that make great amounts of money?   Ask any preacher that you know.  The people of the Church don’t give that much.  All that money did not come from the people’s tithe!!!!!!  In fact, I know of several of them that no longer take a salary from the church.

“Why?  How do they afford all that if they don’t?”  These guys are business men and women.   Does the Bible not say that the worker is worth his wage? If you think what they have is wrong, then you had better  stop taking your weekly pay check!  Same difference there.  The only difference is that they know what the Bible says to do with our money, and they do it!  They not only give ten percent off of the top as tithe, they give all  of their first fruits, and then give offerings and help support other ministries, too.

The Bible  says

  • G-d gives us Power to get wealth; Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers,  as it is this day.
  • He gives us wealth that brings no sorrow; Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and  addeth no sorrow with it.
  • He wishes us, above all things, good health and prosperity as our soul prospers, or matures in Christ; 3 John 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

“Why do they keep asking for an offering from us, then?”  To give us the opportunity to plant some seed.   I need a harvest, so I must plant seed.  It is that simple.   Besides, it takes a lot of money to get the Gospel out (run ministries/churches).  If their collecting an offering to keep their ministry going is so wrong, is it right for you to pass the offering plate in your church?  Again, it is the same difference!

“But they take money from the poor!”  Ever heard of the widow and her mite (Mar 12:42-44)[*], and what great things JESUS said about her because she gave ALL SHE HAD, right in front of Him?  This sacrificial giving very well may be what keeps these people’s heads above water, financially, too.  It did for us for several years.  “give and it shall be given”, after all.  And it works!  If the ministry they give to is good ground, the people who give will be blessed.  If  not, the people do not hear G-d telling them to stop.  That is their fault.

G_d has good things in store for His people.  He gives them power to get wealth: books to write, machines to build, businesses to run, and if G_d does it, it can’t be wrong!

We must stop the contentions and strife over these men and women having nice things.  They have worked hard for what they have.  They developed the gifts and ideas that were given to them.

I rejoice in this.  It gives me hope.  This means that I, too, can do better, have better.  If G-d has it and I am His child, why not?

So you see, G-d wants His people to live and live well.  THAT is a testimony to Him, that He is a covenant keeper to those that love and serve him.  And if you follow the Spiritual Laws laid out in Scripture, the Blessings can not help but to follow you, too!  Then it will be like  King David said, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…”.

Well, count me in!

[*]Mar 12:42-44 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

      Marrion Eddie Rice,
1)First- Yes, I can explain it. They are neither taking away from nor adding to Scripture, but expounding on and explaining more deeply the Scriptures. Think of them as sermons on paper.

      2) Next, In Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17, and Luke 19:46 Jesus did not call it a “house of merchandise”, but “a den of thieves. Remember that not everyone that sells something is a thief! This was at the Passover, one of the Jewish people’s Holiest days. At Passover, the men would bring perfect, spotless animals as a sacrifice. A priest was stationed to examine each animal prior to its being accepted for sacrifice. It is possible he would frequently turn down perfectly acceptable animals, putting them in a pen to resell to someone else later. This also forced the men to purchase another one from the sellers stationed nearby. The Priests were getting a cut of the profits from this, and the Holy men who came to honor G-d and obey His commands were being swindled. The Priests were not very good men back then, it seems.
Many feel it is wrong to sell anything in the Sanctuary not associated with The Word. Remember, our whole purpose is to not just get the Gospel out there, but to make sure that it is understood, too. Why read these peoples books? To make sure we know what was meant when it was written. What does the Bible say about this? 2 Timothy 2:15- “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
You can not just know what it says, you have to know what it means.

I hope this helps explain it.

      Much love! L
