Many people believe that the power of the Holy Spirit stopped working in New Testament Days. I, personally, know for a fact that it did not. I write of these things because I have personally seen them. We are the body of Christ. Why? Because He is in Heaven and man was given dominion on the earth. Jesus HAD to be born of a woman to regain the authority Adam gave away. Again, Jesus is the head, the leader, the ruler. We are the body, the hands and feet working for Him, yes, as though it were Him doing it (which it IS, via His Holy Spirit, just through us): In His name, through His power-of-attorney, as if it were Him doing it.

Don’t get mad at me, Jesus said it! In fact He said in Mark 16:17,18,

  • And these signs shall follow them that believe (He did NOT say, “the apostles”, nor did He say, “those of you that are here with me now”, He said anyone, anytime that believes on the power of His Holy name. ANYONE);
  • in my name (with my power of attorney, just as if it were me standing there doing it, but it is me doing it through you)
  • shall they cast out devils (yep!) ;
  • they shall speak with new tongues (Strong’s (Greek 1100) defines this as glossa: a language [specifically not naturally acquired] This means one given and not naturally learned, and as 1 Corinthians 13:10 tells us this will continue until Jesus returns, and as that hasn’t happened yet…)
  • they shall take up serpents (It is written in red, and that means that Jesus said, “…It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt [test, or try] the L-rd, thy G-d.” Matthew 4:7. That means we are not to pick them up just to see what will happen, but if something happens like it did to Paul on the island gathering wood, we’re covered!);
  • and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
  • they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (there is absolutely NO possible way to misunderstand that. It means what it says! Plain and simple. If you realize that it is not you doing it, but Him doing it through you, and that He WILL do it, then He will. He already took 39 lashes, or 1,573 stripes for it. 99.99999% of Christians that die of disease die because of a lack of faith, or they and no one around them knows the Word. Jesus just said that it should not happen!)”.

If Jesus is the light of the world, and He is shining through us, His body here on Earth… When I turn a lamp on in a dark room, that light touches everything in the room. That is what happened in the New Testament Church. With Peter:

Acts 5:12-16 says,

12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people;(and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. 14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.)

15 In so much that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.”

It was not his shadow that changed people he walked by, it was the anointing on him. It goes on to say that it was because he had been in the presence of G-d (fellowship!). Isaiah 10:27 clearly tells us that the anointing is the burden removing, yoke destroying power of G_d. All through the Bible it says that the Spirit came upon certain people because they were anointed.

Are these happening through you?

Daniel 11:32 says,

but the people that do know their God (Anyone, anywhere, anytime, again!) shall be strong and do exploits.

The word exploits means acts that leave others in wonder and awe: NOT of us, but of the love and power and grace of G-d. If signs and wonders are not following you, examine yourself and see just how much of Him there really is in you, and He is in us in the form of His Holy Spirit. Acts 1:7 says, “And ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you:…”

Now that we know what power the Church is supposed to have today, and where it comes from How does a person go about getting it?

For the answer to this, please read WHERE IS THE POWER IN THE CHURCH TODAY? Part 2.
