The Steps Of A Righteous Man …

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way”. (Psalms 37:23 )

Psalms 37:23:  So often misquoted, and almost always mis-understood.  A good man.  I looked this up.  Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary entry 1397 says that here a good man is valiant, a warrior.  Hmm.  The steps of a warrior are ordered by the Lord.  AND he delighteth in His ways.  Certainly sounds military-like to me!  After all, we are the body and Jesus is the head, that means that He is in control.  But just how are this good man’s steps ordered?

While I was praying about this, I saw a stream with a bunch of rocks going across it, quite a few rocks wide.  I saw a man walking across the rocks and stepping where He thought he should, and I saw some of the rocks turning sideways and the man slipping and staggering.  He was truly struggling to get across.  Then it came to me:  A righteous man will always be open to hear the voice of God and will obey.  A righteous man will know exactly where to safely step because he is being led by the Lord:  his steps are ordered.
Think of a general in the army ordering a solider where to go and what to do.  It is the same thing here.  And that solder would not dare not obey.  He has been trained to not even question his orders.

We should be the exact same way.  God speaks, we hear and obey.  Ordered!  Also, those that do this are His sons.**

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” (Romans 6:16)

So, a good man here is righteous because he obeys orders, therefore his steps are ordered by the Lord!

 Are yours?

*NOTE: Please read the entire section of this chapter (Psalms 37:17-25).
