What the Bible says about the Church in the last days

Posted in Christianity at 6:30 am by Lisa Ritchey

Today I am writing on my personal musings. I feel it is still an excellent topic though.

2 Timothy 3:1,5-7

(1) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  (v2 “For men shall be”)

(5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

(6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

(7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

That sounds like some churches today, doesn’t it?  They follow a powerless religion, never getting into the Bible for themselves, or only believing certain verses in it. Because they don’t know, and so don’t believe what it says.  So many people have a ticket out of Hell, so to speak, but deny the rest of what Jesus promised.

It is really simple. Jesus Himself said in Mark 16:17-18,

(17) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues

(18) They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover*.

Acts 2 was just the beginning. Jesus Himself said we are to do these things and The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the way: “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied”. (Acts 19:6)

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians13:10 that all of these signs will continue to be used and function on the earth until Jesus returns.

Well, He is not back yet!
