Are You Good Enough?

When I first saw the movie Perfect Stranger, I was totally blown away when the lead character explained it like this.  I had n e v e r thought of it like this, but this is the perfect explanation.  Here is why God had to send Jesus to die for us:

On a scale of 1 to 10, how good a person are you, with 10 being a Mother Teresa and 1 being Hitler?

Be Honest!

Now, God has set a standard of goodness necessary to be acceptable to Him, but it is so high that no one (other than Jesus) could meet it.

Let’s say that our goodness scale is Earth, and God’s standard of goodness is Venus.

When we look at it this way, Mother Teresa and Hitler are equally missing the mark.  You see, our goodness scale goes up and down.  We can never do enough, nor can we ever be good enough to live up to God’s standard.  We needed something to go across and bridge that gap.

And so God sent Jesus.

When Adam sinned, the result was death; spiritual as well as physical.  It was then necessary for a life to be given to make up for it.

Sacrifices were given regularly for this, yet sin still stood between God and man hindering the relationship.

But God longed for a closer walk with man again, so He sent Jesus to die on the cross to settle the matter once and for all.

Jesus bridged that gap.

Now, all one has to do is to realize that we need a bridge and that Jesus is the only way that we have to God, and accept what He did on the cross as bridging that gap.

Once this is done, say it out loud, “Jesus, I acknowledge my need for a savior, and you are it, the only way.  Forgive my sins.  Be my Lord.  Save me, Jesus!”

And His answer is, “Done!”

Think about that, then think about this:

Which entry will be seen when you one day stand before a very just God?

Rev_3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Rev_20:12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Rev_20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev_21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Rev_22:19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

And this is why God had to send Jesus, and why we must accept and acknowledge what He did and that He is truly the savior of the world.  Not only is Jesus The Way, He is the only way.

Mohammad is dead, as is Buddha, Confucius, and the head of every other religion.

There is one true, living God that sent His Son to die that we might be forgiven of our sins.  That Son’s name is Jesus.  There is no other name by which man might be saved*:  Just that one.

And He is waiting right now for you to accept Him into your heart.  JUST LIKE YOU ARE.

He loves you!  Just say, “Yes!”
