WILL You serve Him HOWEVER He Chooses to Use You? WILL You?

I just watched the movie Soul Surfer.  This is not the first time that I have watched it, and I am blown away every time by Bethany Hamilton‘s faith.  This young woman went through quite a go-through in order to be used like G-d wanted to use her.   She went through the valley of the shadow of death, but did not set up camp there.  She went through.

It is the story of a girl of great faith.  She lives in Hawaii.  While out surfing with some friends one day, she was attacked by a shark.  It cost her an arm, yet when asked if she could go back to that day and not go surfing, would she and she replied, “I wouldn’t change what happened to me, because then I wouldn’t have this chance in front of all of you.  This chance to embrace more people than I ever could have with two arms.”  She also went on to become a champion Professional Surfer.  With only one arm. Because of her faith.

Due to her losing an arm like she did, she gained international fame and inexplicable media coverage, which she always used to share her faith, such as when she accepted the Teen Choice ‘Courage Award’ when she said, “I think I got my courage from Jesus Christ.  He says, ‘Be strong.’ ”  Had she not lost her arm, that would not have happened.

Here are some of the other opportunities that were afforded her due to the shark incident:

G-d had a plan.  She realized it and went with it.  Wow!

How many of us would have done this.  Most of us would be whining about, “Why me?”  which she did for a season, but she got over it.  Would we?

Yes, she had a very strong support team, all strong believers, but if we are in Church, shouldn’t we, too?

I think I just hit on the real issue.

Do we believe what we hear?  Do we believe what is written in The Word?  Do we believe what G-d and Jesus said?

If not, why not?

It is true.  They meant it.  His truth endureth to all generations.  His Word endures forever.  His truth is still true.

The problem is not with G-d.  It is not with Jesus.  It is not with the Holy Spirit.  The Word is not the problem; it means exactly the same thing it meant when it was written.

If that is the case, then the problem must be with us.  Why do we not believe.

When one gets into the Word on a daily basis and truly studies it (getting into a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance or similar reference book with Hebrew and Greek dictionaries in them), looking up numerous Scriptures on a particular topic, and praying diligently; seeking His face not just asking Him for things, true Biblical worship (loving on Him like a dog when you first get home from being gone all day.  N O T H I N G can distract that dog from loving on you and showing you his full adoration), THEN one gets to truly know Him instead of just knowing about Him.  This is when faith comes.  You cannot trust someone you do not know!

So, are you close enough to G-d through His Son, Jesus the Christ, that, in a situation like this, you could trust Him enough to know that, somehow, He will get glory from it?

I hope I am never tested to see, but if it comes to that, I hope I pass the test.
