Real, True, Biblical Faith + Supplication= Prayers That Get Answered

(3)  And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime (tar[1]) had they for mortar (cement[2]).

(4)  And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven (the clouds or possibly even the stars[3]); and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

(5)  And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

(6)  And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained (inaccessible[4]) from them, which they have imagined (planned[5]) to do.

(7)  Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

(8)  So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

(9)  Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.   Genesis 11:3-9

First, let’s look at who these people were.  They were the descendants of Noah.  Their (several generations back) grandparents were the ones saved on the ark.  They should have known better than this.  This is why the Bible tells us to tell one generation to the next of G-d’s wonders and goodness (Deut. 32:7).  If our children don’t know, their children won’t know. This is how you keep a spiritual legacy alive, telling one generation after the other.

Now, let’s look at the faith that they had. Their faith was sorely misplaced, but oh my gosh, how great and strong standing it was. They took slime (tar) and believed that it would hold together bricks in a tower high enough to reach the sky. What absolutely amazes me is that G-D SAID that it would, because they truly believed it.  He also said that NOTHING they planned would be inaccessible or unobtainable to them.  The only way that He could stop them was to  give them different languages so that they could not understand each other.  Amazing!

Here, I feel I must point out some things about faith. According to Romans 4:17, G-d created everything by faith. He knew whatever He said would come to be. “even G-d, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” He KNEW it would happen. This is true, Biblical faith.  And Romans 12:3 says, “according as G-d hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”  This means that G-d has given you the same kind of faith that He has!

Now, it does not say that you have to be believing for something good. You can even stand speaking and believing something bad, even for another person. This is Biblical cursing, or causing bad things, “doom”[6] to happen as a result of your words. Yep, that is Scripture and the Eastern people understand this:

(8) But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

(9) Therewith bless we G-d, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of G-d.

(10) Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.    James 3:8-10

Have you ever heard someone say, “The Doctor said it is bad. They don’t have long now!” How sad. That is a curse. If they had quoted and stood on Scriptures (spoken blessings), the Doctor would have been proven wrong. What would have happened if they had, instead, said one of these and believed it?

  • “By His stripes, she is healed!”  (Take your pick: We  were healed in 1 Peter 2:24 ; or  We  are healed in Isaiah 53:5)
  • “No weapon formed against her shall prosper.” Isiah 54:17 or
  • “He is the G-d that healeth thee!” Exodus 15:26 or even,
  • “And not just healeth, He is the G-d that healeth all her diseases, and not just a little, or part way, but completely!” Psalms 103:3  And let’s never forget
  • “And in that day his burden shall be lifted off thy neck and her burden destroyed because of the anointing[7]!” Isaiah 10:27

G-d’s Word does not return unto Him void, but accomplishes that which it is set out to do (Is 55:11). The thing is, He speaks it to us, but it does not return to Him untill we say it back to Him.  G-d said in Is. 43:26, “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.”  Philippians 4:6 tells us, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto G-d.”

Quoting Scriptures back to G-d is part of the supplication process. Supplication means to petition, as one petitions the court. We lift up the evidence we are standing on (His Word which contains His promises) and strongly request that He bring it to pass.

How do you pray a supplicating prayer?

“Lord, in your Word, you said________ (fill in the blank with your Scripture).  Now, Lord, I know that you are not a man and you can not lie, I also know that you are faithful and true, and that all of your answers are yea and amen.  I know, too, that I am praying according to your Word and Your will, so I know that not only are you going to do it for me, but I already count it done.  I give you praise and glory, Lord, and thank you!  a-men”.  You are just sort of putting it out there so that He sees that you know.  What happens when you do this?

“And the peace of G-d, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

Why?  Because you have true faith that what you petitioned must come to be.

And so it shall.

[9] I once heard a lawyer’s wife explaining that her husband had told her that “shall” is the strongest word in the legal system.  If a judge says something shall happen, it must.  It is the same as if a law has just been passed.  There are no exceptions.  There are no possible reasons that it won’t work.  It must come to be!  Oh, what good news this is for us.  If He said that it shall, Stop doubting and being afraid.  Go for it.  G-d’s got your back!

NOTE: This article was previously published under the title Revelations On Babel.  I never really liked that title, and apparently nobody else did either, so I finally corrected some form issues and re-posted under a new title.  Now.  This dog will hunt!
